Virtualbox Create Serial Port Pipe
I am having a issue supporting a console port.I'm running Virtual Box 4.3.16 (latest)I entered under settings for Virtual Box:x Enable serial portx Host Pipex create pipePort/File Path:.pipeCOM1When I start the VBox Windows7 and launch Putty, then type in COM1, but there is no connection.it just blinks.I know this works on the base machine because I have connection to my Cisco router, but the serial port does not seem to work on the Vbox.?Any help would greatly be appreciated!!! On the host, did you intend it to be a named pipe or a physical COM1? It doesn't seem to me to be a great idea to name a pipe COM1, and the actual COM1 is not a pipe. END QUOTEThank for your the quick reply. I think I have everything down in the attachments, please let me know if you need more information.I intend for it to be a Physical COM1 on the Virtual Box. I will not be using the base machine for the communications port only the Virtual Box.I thought I had to 'pipe' it to my Vbox?

I could swear I remember seeing an image showing COM6 appearing in your host Device Manager ports section. Did you delete it? If so then choosing to delete that image was a pity, since it was the most relevant picture posted. It's what told me that you have an actual COM6 on your host, hence a pipe wasn't needed. If possible you can restore that image (you can remove the blue console image) so that this discussion makes more sense to future readers. Site Moderator Posts: 29547 Joined: 4.
